NHS dental fees are set by the NHS

Band 1 | £27.40 | This covers an examination, diagnosis and advice. If necessary, it also includes X-rays, a scale and polish and planning for further treatment. |
Band 2 | £75.30 | This covers all treatment covered by Band 1, plus additional treatment, such as fillings, root canal treatment and removing teeth (extractions). |
Band 3 | £326.70 | This covers all treatment covered by Bands 1 and 2, plus more complex procedures such as crowns, dentures and bridges. |

The NHS will provide any treatment that you need to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthy and free of pain.
Decisions about which treatment is appropriate for you will be based upon a clinical assessment and clinical judgement.

Pregnant women and those who have had a baby in the last 12 months get free NHS dental treatment. You may have to show proof such as a maternity exemption certificate (MatEx), a maternity certificate (MATB1) or your baby’s birth certificate. However, if you have given birth more than 12 months ago you will not be entitled to free NHS dental treatment. Please note that your MatEx alone only gives exemption from NHS prescriptions.
